Bitter Italian Sour

Recipe Description

Negronis are fantastic but I’m a huge fan of the cocktail hour sour so here’s part Negroni, part sour…

Ingredients

  • 1.5 ounces Plymouth Gin or any London dry gin
  • 0.5 ounce Leopold Bros Aperitivo
spectacular craft version of the classic Italian red bitter liqueur--you could just drink this over a big cube with a twist of orange so it's worth having a bottle around...Campari will work fine though.
  • 0.75 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 egg white
that's enough for two in my opinion, especially if the egg is large or extra large
  • 1 generous dash Regans' Orange Bitters No. 6

Preparation

Put a sour glass in the freezer.

Combine all ingredients in a shaker and shake well WITHOUT ICE (dry shake) to make the egg white creamy.

Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously until very cold.

Service

Strain cocktail into chilled glass. Saluti!
