Nutty Irisher

Recipe Description

How can a cocktail blogger refuse the request of a guy who names his podcast During the Break? If the break starts on Friday and ends on Monday that is, then I’m your girl!

DTB is a big rugby fan–Ireland’s team to be specific! So this one is for him–not to drink at a game mind you, but in the civilization and safety of a comfy chair within reach of a giant ice cube–and a few specialty ingredients that are worth stocking.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Jameson Black Barrel
or any very good Irish whiskey
  • 1/3 ounce Nocino della Cristina Walnut Liqueur
you can do so much with this...Manhattans, old fashioneds, anywhere you find sweet vermouth you can find the seed of a special drink with this delicious liqueur
  • 3 generous dashes black walnut bitters
  • 1 Luxardo cherry
    optional
  • 1 peel orange or blood orange
    totally optional

Preparation

STIR all ingredients except orange peel and cherry in a glass or shaker with ice.

Service

Put a giant ice cube, cherry and orange peel in an old fashioned glass.

Strain chilled cocktail gently over ice. Take a picture of it. Smell it. Relax & enjoy. (Or as DTB might want to say, Covfefe!)

(You could also serve it up–how pretty!)
